Tomorrow

The past is the past
Today a fleeting moment
Your hopes are hanging by a thread
In tomorrow's basket.

Hopes and dreams
Wishes and promises
All just waiting to be wanted
In tomorrow's basket.

Maybe not this time
Does not mean it won't happen
Stretching out and reaching
In tomorrow's basket

Time goes by and things change
Might not be as you wished
Or as you hoped, but still its
In tomorrow's basket

Remember

A new start is in front of you, one hour to go before you have to board the plane, a new destination and home. All you luggage has been booked in and you are thinking of what you are leaving behind and what you have planned for the future, all you hopes and dreams, desires to meet new people and see places you never heard of "An Adventure" stretching out in front of you.

"You are the author of your life" , is what you are thinking and believing, you are in control of every experience. The world is your oyster...your future is as colourful as the rainbow and your past is just that, a faded memory that you are never going to have to dust off and look at. The illusion that you are different and the promise of more than just the run of the mill lifestyle, is smiling at you.

But then the truth sets in, you wake up two years after all the excitement of a new life faded and you back in South Africa. You realise that the dream you had for yourself, the dream where nothing could stand in your way, that everything you put your hands to were going to prosper and you where going to be happy. You were going to meet the man of your dreams, travel & enjoy the life that you have dreamed about and worked for, did not happen. You realise it all was pipe dreams. The real world does not work that way, it is cut throat and cruel.

Things are never what you wish it would be, it never works the way you plan and there are always forks in the road. You don't always realise (until it is way to late) that you chose the wrong exit. That you life is heading the the oppisite direction away from your dreams.

The older you get you also realise that life is based on routine and hard work. That you are lucky if you find the man of your dreams, if you got to see 1 of the countries you had on your list, the money you were going to make and the happiness that you were stretching for might not happen the way you expected.

Better to realise that sooner rather than later.
